The Saveiro, Volkswagen's compact pickup truck, was launched in July 1982. It was then the last vehicle to be part of what is known as the “Gol family”. Developed to be a cargo transport car, the VW Saveiro serves both companies, the younger public who enjoy sports, and even small families, who prioritize leisure.

Its name, Saveiro, is derived from a maritime vessel of the same name, with mast and sail that is used for transport, fishing and tourism. As it is a car dedicated to transporting cargo and people, just like the vessel, they decided to give it the same name.

Engine and dimension

Its first engine was a 1.6, air-cooled, four-cylinder. The 1982 single cabin sloop was 4,06 meters long, 1,62 m wide and 1,36 m high. Compared to the 2021 VW Saveiro, which increased its size slightly in all measurement criteria. Check out the table below.

A favorite on the market for over 37 years, Saveiro's positive point is that it is easy to buy, maintenance costs are not high and it is still a car with good resale.
