Diesel cars offer great improvements in performance and economy. That's why pickup trucks have greater remap gains compared to flex-fuel vehicles and especially those with an aspirated engine. Can you guess which trucks have had the most remaps done by Strike Brasil?
How is the gain calculated?
Most pickup trucks nowadays are full 4×4, so it is only possible to measure it in a 4×4 dynamometer also, which is what we give Strike Brasil we have in our Operations and Development Center (COD).
On the Servitec 2025 dynamometer, simulations and measurements are carried out for each vehicle. This model allows all 4 wheels to rotate to take the measurement. So, the gains we present here are calculated as follows: We tie the truck to the roller, run the original, remap, run the truck again on the dynamometer and this way we are able to present our customers with a gain with good numbers from our remaps.
Gold medal: Chevrolet S10 2.8L 200hp (2014 – 2020)
At the top of the podium of trucks that represent the highest number of remaps, which we are presenting to you in this content, we bring the numbers of the S10 2.8 with 200 hp. Number 1 in services performed in all our units, its power can increase up to +22,5% of the original power. In terms of horsepower, this represents a jump from 200 hp to up to 245 hp.
The torque numbers are also impressive: an increase of more than 20% – going from 51.0 Kgf.m to 62.0 Kgf.m.
- Original power: 200 HP
- Modules Strike Brasil: 245 hp
- Power Gain: 45 HP (22,5%)
- Original torque: 51.0 Kgf.m
- Torque Strike Brasil: 62.0 kgf.m
- Torque Gain: 11 Kgf.m (21,6%)
Silver medal: Volkswagen Amarok 2.0 TDI Bi-turbo 180hp
A truck that shows good remap gains is the Amarok 2.0 TDI Bi-turbo 180hp. There are more than 500 pieces of software developed for this specific truck, always focusing on individual projects for each client, meeting their needs.
Originally with 180 hp, after the Electronic Injection Reprogramming of the Strike Brasil the Amarok 2.0 can reach 240 hp. That's 60 hp more, which corresponds to an increase of 33,3% of the original power. This improvement in performance also provides other benefits such as greater safety when overtaking, better recovery, more comfort when driving, among other benefits that a good remap offers.
As for torque, the gain is more than 22%, going from the original 42.8 Kgf.m to 54.8 Kgf.m after reprogramming. These gains are obtained when power and DPF/EGR solutions are combined.
- Original power: 180 HP
- Modules Strike Brasil: 240 hp
- Power Gain: 60 HP (33,3%)
- Original torque: 42.8 Kgf.m
- Torque Strike Brasil: 54.8 kgf.m
- Torque Gain: 12 Kgf.m (28,0%)
Bronze medal: Toyota Hilux / SW4 Hilux / SW4 3.0 Diesel 171hp
The Hilux 3.0 171cv is one of the trucks that represent the greatest remap number done. Exceeding 200 hp, this reprogramming involves the Hilux truck and the SW4 as well.
With a great result, the numbers increase by more than 22% in power and almost 20% in torque. Reaching 210 hp and 44.0 kgf.m.
- Original power: 171 HP
- Modules Strike Brasil: 210 hp
- Power Gain: 39 HP (22,8%)
- Original torque: 36.7 Kgf.m
- Torque Strike Brasil: 44.0 kgf.m
- Torque Gain: 7,3 Kgf.m (19,9%)
Remembering that all these numbers are real from readings we took on customer trucks. We always like to explain to the customer that earnings may vary depending on mechanical capacity and other particularities. So even if you and someone you know have a practically identical car, the earnings may be different because each remap is unique, aimed at a specific machine.
