To kick off the posts on our page, we'd like to address a topic that greatly troubles us in the daily life of the automotive world, and which was already a concern even before STRIKE BRASIL came into existence: the delay in new automotive models arriving in our country. What do we mean by that? Let's see.
STRIKE BRASIL 's headquarters were located for a long time – until recently when we transferred the Franchisor's operations to the state capital – in the city of Ponta Porã/MS, which borders the neighboring country of Paraguay. For this reason, we have always had this discrepancy in launches that is much more "blatant" than in the rest of Brazil. Examples are almost routine here:
The photo illustrating this post was taken at the launch of the new Nissan Frontier in Asunción - in June 2015! For two years we have seen the "new" Nissan Frontier being sold and circulating in Paraguay. Not only the "top-of-the-line" LE model - as currently in Brazil - but all versions, from the basic "S" to the most complete "LE Exclusive". The launch of the new Frontier in Brazil only happened a few months ago, in April.
outdated launches are not exclusive to just one brand
Another current example of delayed launches is our favorite mid-size pickup truck, the Volkswagen Amarok . Deliveries of the first Amarok V6s began two months ago in the neighboring country, while in Brazil VW still doesn't have an exact launch date – although several already exist in the country.
Still on the Amarok: did you know that a gasoline-powered Amarok – with a 2.0L TSI engine – is already on sale outside of Brazil? Yes! Do you know for how long? 5 years! That's 5 years in which Ford, with the Ranger; Chevrolet, with the S10 ; and Toyota, with the Hilux , have reigned supreme in the "flex-fuel" segment; and 5 years in which the Brazilian consumer has had one less purchase option…
We could continue listing many other examples of outdated launches, but we prefer to leave some for future publications, and conclude with an appeal to Brazilian automakers: stop putting the Brazilian consumer second! We want to be given the attention we deserve; after all, not long ago we were the 4th largest car market in the world.
